Are You A Christian?

Biblical femininity is worth nothing if you do not know the author and designer of it.  More than just knowing about God in your mind, you need to personally know Him in a relational, transformational way through the gospel of the Jesus Christ.

Most important, above anything else you could read here on Biblical Femininity Bootcamp, you must be born again as Jesus told us in John 3:3 “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

This is also known as salvation, or being saved. And this is the only definition of a Christian. A Chritsian is simply an individual who is saved.

This is the Gospel

The word “gospel” means “good news”.  And like all good news, it is relative and it has no value without bad news.

So first, here is the bad news.

You are a sinner: Sin entered the perfect world when Adam disobeyed in the garden (Romans 5:12). He then bore children in his own image (Genesis 5:3) instead of God making humans in His image (Genesis 1:26). That means all humans born after him would be born with a sinful nature, destined to sin because they are sinners inherently. As a human it is impossible to not sin (Romans 3:10, Romans 3:23 ).  Sin is anything that God (not man) has defined as wrong.

And therefore you need a savior.

A savior from what?

The effects of sin: death (Romans 6:23). The only payment for sin is death. Death is final and eternal (Matthew 25:41, 46; 2 Thess 1:7-9). We are SO sinful that even suffering and punishment in hell for our own sin will not pay for it – that is why hell is eternal. It does not end after a certain amount of suffering. If it did, we wouldn’t need the good news (hold on, it’s coming!) because we’d be able to just wait out the punishment and upgrade to something better.

Now for the good news – the gospel!

Jesus Christ took on our penalty for sin – death and separation from God – so that we would not have to.

How did he do this?

He did it by being fully God AND fully man.

He had a human body born of a human woman, but his nature was of God (Psalm 2:7, Isaiah 9:6, John 3:16). Jesus did not inherit a sin nature from Adam because he was not made of the seed of a man.  He lived as a human yet never sinned (Hebrews 4:15). And since only a human can pay for human sin and only God can be perfectly sinless, Jesus filled both requirements with his sacrificial death. The whole deal was sealed when he did not stay dead and resurrected! (Roman 8:34; 1 Cor 15:20)  He not only paid for our death, he defeated death entirely (1 cor 15:55).

Now, something has to happen so that you can claim this payment as your own.  Jesus dying is a historical fact, but it is not a spiritual fact for everyone so that everyone automatically gets to go to heaven.  Think of it like the best discount code ever – it exists, but you have to REDEEM it for it to be any good to you.  This colossal discount code earns you eternal life instead of what you deserve – eternal punishment.

So, how do you redeem this amazing gift from God?

You believe. Just believe. That’s it.

It’s possible that you’ve been told that you need to do some things besides or along with believe the gospel in order to go to heaven. They could include (but aren’t limited to):

It’s true that many of these things (those that are rooted in the Bible) are good things to do and can bring us closer to God while blessing ourselves and others. But NONE of these are required to obtain salvation (aka be born again).

All you have to do is have faith (believe) that you are a sinner, you cannot pay for your sin, but Jesus (who is God) can and did by living a sinless life, dying in your place, and rising again.

That is the gospel, and what sweet good news it is!!

Look at these verses that show us that faith or belief, not works (doing certain things, or living by certain rules) is what saves us and promises us eternity in heaven.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth” (Romans 1:16)

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.” (Romans 3:19-25)

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” (John 3:16-18)

Have you put your faith in Jesus and HIS work, not your own?

If so, I am very excited and happy for you!

If not, do it today – right now!  There is no reason to wait. You are not guaranteed another day or even breath.  You only have to believe the simple gospel and then you have started a beautiful relationship and journey with the Creator of the Universe.

Now that you believe, you just ask God for this gift of salvation and you will have it.  The Bible says that “this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He hears us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.” (1 John 5:14-15)

His will is that you would be saved (1 Tim 2:3-4) so this is a prayer you can absolutely know He will answer!  There is no special prayer or formula you have to pray but something that touches on these points will do:

Lord, I know I am a sinner. You are just a holy so sin must be dealt with. I believe that I could not pay for my sin and that your Son the Lord Jesus Christ did. Thank you for this gift of salvation and new life in you! Amen.

If you have just done this, all of heaven is rejoicing right now for you!!! (Luke 15:7)
